# **Privacy Policy**

## Privacy by design

CineShare is deliberately non-KYC: an account consists of a nickname and generated passphrase. We do not request your email address, phone number, real name, or identity documents.

## What we store

- Account data — your nickname, display name, and a salted hash of your passphrase.
- Library data — watchlist, favorites, and watch progress you choose to synchronize.
- Integration credentials — API keys or cookies you add for your own third-party services, encrypted at rest and used only on your behalf.
- Issue reports — the message and technical context you submit with a report.
- Acquisition jobs — encrypted third-party job identifiers and bounded progress metadata needed to resume torrent or Usenet work. Active jobs expire after seven days; completed and failed jobs expire after 24 hours.

## What we never do

- No advertising, ad trackers, or analytics profiles sold or shared.
- No selling or renting data to anyone.
- No use of integration credentials except for your own playback requests.
- No proxying, relaying, transcoding, storing, or serving video files or streaming segments.

## Third parties

Catalog data and artwork load from TMDB. Trailers are embedded from YouTube, which may set its own cookies when playback starts. Services you connect receive only the requests needed to resolve your playback.

Some provider requests must originate from your own IP address or browser session. When you enable the CineShare extension or a proxy profile, a short-lived, server-authorized request may run from your browser, extension, or configured proxy. The extension keeps browser cookies local and returns only bounded scrape or probe metadata, never complete cookie jars or media bytes.

## Retention and deletion

Data is retained while your account exists. Deleting your account removes your account and associated library data; issue reports are anonymized. Local theme, playback preferences, and progress remain in your browser and can be cleared there.
